Coordinator: Romanian Association for Space Technology and Industry (ROMSPACE)
Financed by the European Space Agency (ESA)
The “Strategic study on Romanian Industry for key components developments in support of VEGA and SpaceRider programmes” aims to identify possible Romanian suppliers for the Vega and Space Rider programmes. It is the next step in the development of Romanian contribution to ESA projects by identifying the space-relevant capabilities of the industrial sectors and the actors represented there. Therefore, in addition to the existing space industry players which are already aware of ESA and its projects and may have prior experience in working with it, the project team will undertake to identify spin-in opportunities from other industries as well.
The project shall result in the identification of reliable industries and institutions that can offer long term guarantees and that have experience with industrial contracts that require delivery of products on time and within specifications and a draft list of the technologies that could be supported by Romanian industries. The team will also identify maturity levels and technological readiness levels to underscore the potential of companies as suppliers which require further investment. Overall, the project shall provide a useful scan of Romanian industry with impact on development scenarios and strategies over the next few years, shaping Romania as an ESA Member State and as an emerging space player.
